Uma Thurman wants to recover more than 2 million lost dollars
According to the Canadian newspaper Toronto Star, Uma Thurman’s financial adviser was arrested for bank fraud and money laundering.
“He was arrested and subsequently sentenced to 7½ years in prison for fraud, money laundering and bad advice to investors,” the publication said.
While incarcerated, Kenneth Starr worked for Uma Thurman, in addition to other customers. Therefore, the actress filed a lawsuit against the former assistant.
The lawsuit focuses on the loss suffered by investments in the company GlobalOptions.
In the lawsuit, Uma Thurman alleges that she was not informed of the potential risks of this type of investment.
“The actress claims she was not told of the risks of investing approximately $2 million in technology and security company GlobalOptions, in addition to the Martini Park hotel chain,” the lawsuit states.
Starr’s representatives, meanwhile, deny the allegations. According to the lawyers, Uma Thurman knew very well what he was getting into.
“Starr’s legal team has contested Thurman’s lawsuit, insisting that the documents she signed clearly outline the financial risks of doing business,” the Toronto Star reported.
Uma Thurman is by no means the first hollywood star suffering financial blows.
