Brazilian tennis player Laura Pigossi won this Saturday (28) a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after beating Argentina’s Julia Riera by 2 sets to 1 in the semi-final of women’s singles tennis at the Pan American Games.
In the final, Pigossi will face Argentinian Lourdes Carlé in the fight for gold in the sporting event in Santiago, Chile.
Olympic medalist at Tokyo 2020, Laura Pigossi had a difficult match against Riera. The partials were 4-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (7/5). In the final set on clay, her opponent managed to lead the duel, but the tennis player from São Paulo reacted in time, forced a tie-break and secured her place in the final, which she celebrated in crying at the net.
