São Paulo’s Luisa Stefani will end the wait for a return to the courts. She has anticipated the return and will compete in the WTA 250 in Chennai, India, a hard-ground event which begins next Monday, in partnership with the Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski, 8th in the world ranking.
Luisa and Gabi formed a duo in the second half of last year, with a WTA 1000 title in Montreal, Canada, and runners-up at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and WTA 500 in San Jose, USA. and semi-finals at the US Open, a North American Grand Slam in which Luisa ended up with an injury and had to undergo surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of her knee.
“I’m very excited to play again, especially with Gabi. We have a lot of history, links, we had very good and difficult times together last year. To come back and have someone I trust a lot on and off the pitch will be very important and special. . Very happy to be in this position and to come back. Little by little, I’m getting to 100%. What matters is being healthy and to come back,” said Luisa, who is sponsored by Fila, Faros Private XP and XP Investimentos and has the backing of Tennis League 10 and Athlete Bag.
The athlete will travel from Chennai to Tokyo, Japan, where she will compete, from the 19th, in the Tokyo WTA 500 tournament, alongside the Japanese Ena Shibahara.
