World leaders congratulated the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for the inauguration ceremony which took place this Sunday (1st), in Brasilia. Among the names are the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, Frenchman Emmanuel Macron, Vice President of Argentina Cristina Kirchner and the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
“I joyfully congratulate the inauguration of our comrade @LulaOficial, as President of Brazil. A new wave of liberation is sweeping the Pátria Grande, opening avenues of geopolitical advancement for projects of South American union. Our hug to Lula and the Brazilian people!” , wrote the Venezuelan.
French President Emmanuel Macron celebrated the Brazilian’s inauguration in a tweet written in Portuguese.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunakwrote that Lula is beginning “a third historic period” as President of Brazil.
“On behalf of the United Kingdom, I would like to wish you every success in leading Brazil and look forward to strengthening our economic, cultural and environmental ties.”
Argentina’s Vice President Cristina Kirchner celebrated Lula’s inauguration: “A new day is dawning in South America. Power, Lula! Power, Brazil!
Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández is at the President-elect’s inauguration in Brasilia and shared a photo with the petista and presidential sash.
“Congratulations, President Lula! Latin America has united and fought. The dream has come true. I wish the best for this administration, the future will be one of deep brotherhood among peoples.”
Chilean President,
Gabriel Boric, published a photo with Lula and the presidential scarf.“Hope, democracy, justice and dignity for our peoples. With Lula we go together,” he wrote.
Colombian leader Gustavo Petro wrote: “At the inauguration of President Lula in Brasilia. I hope that these political changes will lead to the irreversible path of integration in South America.
The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, published the photo taken during the reception of the PT member during the inauguration.
“We salute President Lula. Strengthening relations with the Republic of Brazil, for the benefit of both nations, is a goal we share. Success in your term as President.”
The profile of the Spanish royal family has shared photos of the King of Spain, Felipe VI, with the Brazilian president.

Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, wife of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, came to Brazil for the ceremony in place of her partner.

Bolivian leader Evo Morales was in Brasilia and also congratulated Brazil’s new chief executive.
“We welcome Brother Lula’s investiture speech, which reaffirms hopes for a new historic cycle of tolerance, inclusion, integration and solidarity in Brazil and Pátria Grande. We live in a time of renewal of the agenda of the free peoples of the world”, he began.
And he added: “The creation of Indigenous Peoples, the Promotion of Racial Equality and the strengthening of the Ministries of Environment and Women guarantee management that will humanize the administration of government in favor of the poorest and most excluded. Force brother Loula”.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised Lula and spoke of working alongside the PT candidate to build a “better future for Canadians and Brazilians”, in addition to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
