During the III Internal Games Maple Bear Goiânia (JIMB), the Canadian school Maple Bear Goiânia managed, with the participation of students, to collect 7.5 tons of food, surpassing last year, when 4 tons were collected .
These donations were distributed to Lar Francisca de Lima (Goiânia), the “Uma Gotinha de Amor” project (Trindade), the residents of Residencial Terra Bela (Senador Canedo) and the Alto da Boa Vista occupation (Aparecida de Goiânia) .
To complete this year’s action, 150 basic food baskets were delivered last Sunday morning (12/11), to residents of Residencial JK, in Goiânia, with the participation of employees of the institution, in addition to students and parents of students. .
“It’s an opportunity to see each other as brothers, our equals. This is true love, even with our differences,” says Educational Director Sabrina Oliveira.
The event was organized in partnership with Grupo de Mãos Dadas, which since 2013 has been working in the neighborhood to promote solidarity. “We work constantly, developing several collaborative actions with families from communities in situations of social vulnerability. Our work aims to provide fraternal support, help and encouragement for vocational training, the development of individual autonomy, the dissemination of interest in culture, in addition to promoting health care, restoring the self-esteem and quality of life, so that those supported can transform their reality and, therefore, transform the world in which we live,” says Bárbara Nogueira, founder and president of the NGO.
The solidarity morning also had the partnership of “Mais Eu Sorvetes e Açaí” which, together with the school, distributed 600 ice creams to the community. “This basket helps us a lot, it came at the right time. I am a mother of three children, I have no one to help me at home. So this donation is wonderful,” thanked Daiane Nascimento, who received the donation and is currently unemployed.
Architect Cassiane Nery, mother of three students from the Maple Bear Goiânia school, also took part in the action with her husband and children. “In addition to all this action, collection, donation, the importance of this act, one of the intentions of coming is to show my children this other reality, cultural, educational, social. Key people who help us in their daily work and live a different life, different from the one led by our children. This reality is much bigger than what they think is normal,” says Nery.
“This is the first time that I have participated in an action of this type. It warmed my heart. I want to do it more often,” says Mateus Nery, a 9th grade student at Maple Bear Goiânia.
The school also takes part in other solidarity actions each year, such as the distribution of chocolates and basic food baskets at Easter and toys during children’s parties. Maple Bear Goiânia, in partnership with the parents of the school, always distributes school materials that students have used during the school year and that are in good condition.
“This experience contributes to a culture of kindness, solidarity, unity and, above all, commitment to education. Each year, we promote this involvement between the school, the parents, the students and the external community and the result is more and more satisfactory. Everything for a better Brazil, which values education and gives opportunities to others”, concludes the CEO of Maple Bear Goiânia, Mônica Siqueira.
