Brazilian travelers wishing to visit Mexico for tourism, business or cultural purposes must present the printed visa. The requirement, announced in early August and effective August 17, removes the ability to enter the country only with an electronic visa.

Within 30 days, electronic visas can still be presented with the passport if they were issued before August 17at least 72 hours before check-in.
Those who have not succeeded in completing the electronic version within this period must present the physical visa affixed to their passport. The Mexican visa costs US$48 (approximately R$250 at August 17 prices) and is valid for 180 days from the date of issue.
Issuance of the document depends on an appointment at the Mexican embassy in Brasilia, or at the Mexican consulates in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. To schedule the visit, go to the website of the Foreign Affairs Secretariat at this link: https://citas.sre.gob.mx.

With the requirement of a printed visa, it will no longer be possible to use the electronic authorization system (SAE), which was available for Brazilian travelers since December 11, 2021.
Visa waiver for Mexico
People who have permanent residence or a visa from certain countries do not need to present a visa to enter Mexico. Exemption is provided in the following cases:
- Citizens with permanent residence in the following places: Canada, United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, countries belonging to the Schengen area and member countries of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru)
- Citizens who have a valid and current visa from the following locations: Canada, United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Schengen countries
- Tourists traveling on cruise ships can stay up to 7 days without a visa at the port of arrival
