Considered a talent to be a future world champion, Mick Schumacher will no longer be a Ferrari Academy driver at the end of the 2022 F1 season. The information is taken from the English magazine Autosport.
According to the sports channel, the end of the partnership between the miranello company and the German is seen as natural. The parties did not desperately cling.
The 23-year-old sportsman is now trying, on his own, to make his way into the premier category of world motorsport.
Mick Schumacher has a contract with Haas until the end of this year and American team principal Guenther Steiner has not guaranteed the driver’s stay.
Current Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi is expected to inherit the vacancy and be Dane Kevin Magnussen’s team-mate.
Mick Schumacher’s relationship with Ferrari is due to end in December meaning the German will be a free agent as he seeks a 2023 #F1 conduct.

Mick Schumacher has become a winning talent
The German has two titles in the lower categories of motorsport. He was Formula 3 champion in 2019 and Formula 2 champion in 2020. The first title earned him a contract with the Ferrari Academy.
Mick Schumacher joins a group of other talented riders like Macrus Armstrong, Callum Illot, Robert Schwartzman, in addition to Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi.
He entered F1 in 2021. He didn’t score any points last year, but in the current season he has already scored points in two races: England and Austria.
Possible destinations for the driver to follow in F1
The F1 grid already has most of the seats taken for the 2023 season. However, different teams have yet to define the driver pairing.
Alpine is the first of them. After seeing Fernando Alonso move to Aston Martin and being rejected by Oscar Piastri, the French team appears to be a possible destination.
The team’s guaranteed driver Esteban Ocon has already said he would like to have Mick Schumacher as a teammate. However, his compatriot Pierre Gasly is the big favorite.
In this sense, AlphaTauri appears as a kind of second possibility for the German, since Gasly would leave a vacant position if he were indeed transferred to Alpine.
However, driver Colton Herta was speculated to defend the team. Williams could also sign Mick Schumacher.
For now, the British team has renewed with Alexander Albon, but has not guaranteed the permanence of the other driver: the Canadian Nicholas Latifi.
Alfa Romeo also has indecisions. Valteri Bottas’ teammate is currently Guanyou Zhou. However, the Chinese has a contract until the end of the current F1 season.
