Belém will receive 25 million reais to invest in public health. The amount was released by the Ministry of Health on Thursday (9). The resource, according to the municipality of Belém, will be used to recompose the amounts that were not returned by the former administration of the federal government.
In the midst of a municipal health crisis, with several reports of salary arrears and outsourced payments, Mayor Edmilson Rodrigues met last week with the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, to discuss the strengthening of health actions in Belém.
According to the ordinance which released the resources, “having regard to official letter n° 30/2023-GAB/SESMAPMB, containing a request for the contribution of financial resources to finance actions and outpatient and hospital services of medium and high complexity under the management of the Municipality of Belém”. The amount of 25 million reais will be made available to the state of Pará and the municipality of Belém, in a single payment, according to the letter.
The town hall of Belém will receive 30 million reais from the state government to invest in assistance and health care. The announcement was made through the social networks of Governor Helder Barbalho, on the night of this Wednesday (22).
On February 22, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, signed the release of R$30 million for the health of Belém.
“We will authorize the release of 30 million reais to the town hall of Belém, so that it can collaborate in the viability of actions that can improve assistance and health care”, informed Helder Barbalho.
So far, according to the municipal health department, only R$10 million was actually transmitted by the state governmentsince the total amount was paid in three instalments.

The release of state and union resources comes after a series of complaints from health professionals in Belém. The workers have already carried out several work stoppages to collect the salaries of the teams.
