Morocco beats Canada to qualify first for Round of 16

Morocco is qualified for the knockout stages of the world Cup in Qatar. This Thursday (1st), at noon, in a duel against Canada, at the Al Thumama stadium, the Moroccan team won 2-1 and secured first place in group F. It was the last match of the first phase of the World Cup. .

Before even entering the field, the Canadians were already eliminated. The result did not change the position of the American team, which remained at the bottom of the group. At the same time, Croatia and Belgium clashed. The match at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium ended scoreless, and the Croatians won and also qualified for the round of 16.

And there was Brazil on the pitch. The referee for the match was Brazilian Raphael Claus, alongside assistants Rodrigo Figueiredo, Henrique Correa and Danilo Simon, all from Brazil as well.







First time





Confirming their favoritism in the match, Morocco started by putting pressure on Canada, and in the 5th minute, Ziyech took advantage of the hesitation of the Canadian defense and opened the scoring with a superb goal. Morocco at the forefront at Al Thumama in Doha.

With more emotion at the end of the first half, En-Nesyri again sent him into the back of the net, but the Brazilian referee signaled an offside position in the Moroccan attack. The Moroccan team finished the first half in front, with more dominance, but with only one goal difference and Canada more connected in the game.


Second time

Canada started the second half more offensively. With a few more dangerous chances, the Canadians even tried to change the scenario of the game, but Morocco wouldn’t let them. The match continued for the last 45 minutes without much emotion.

Technicians on both sides tried to find solutions. On the Moroccan side, to kill the game; and, on the Canadian side, to try to stay alive in the game. The two teams continued with a game that was more confined in midfield and with few real scoring chances. In the end, Morocco 2, Canada 1 and the Moroccan team in the round of 16.
