Morocco national team manages to qualify for World Cup round of 16 with draw against Canada
The Moroccan national team won the match against Canada on Thursday (12/1) in the last duel of the group stage of the World Cup. The African team scored two goals in the first half of the match, but the Canadians reduced their lead even before the break.
The Moroccan team occupied the 2nd position in the Group F table, behind Croatia, and needed a draw to qualify. In the dispute for a place at the next stage, Belgium and Croatia were also playing in Qatar. The many combinations that could change the selections that would remain alive in the tournament ended with the definition of vacancies for Croatia and Morocco.
It was the last engagement of the Canadian team, which will host the next edition of the World Cup. The team leaves this World Cup without scoring in any of the clashes.
Barely 3 minutes into the first half, the African team scored the first, with a goal from Ziyech. The lead increased in the 20th minute after En-Nesyri dropped the ball into the net. At 39 minutes, it was Canada’s turn to reduce, with an own goal.
