Leader of the Paulista Championship delta formula For his first season in car racing, Erick Schotten, 15, from Santa Catarina de Timbó, had some new experiences last week.
At the Autobahn Country Club in the US state of Illinois, he took part in tests at the USF Juniorthe first in the ladder of categories that lead to Formula Indy.
The main objective of Erick Schotten, a driver who began his career in karting, was to find out the category to which he can “migrate” next season.
“I trained for three days and they were very productive tests. In addition to training, we also wanted to ‘feel’ the category, see if it would be the right next step for my career,” revealed the young driver from Santa Catarina.
Erick Schotten has been through every possible situation on the 5,700 meter track located in Jolliet, Illinois.
“There were around 80 laps a day, a lot of them on a wet track, which also taught me a lot of learning. I was fast in the rain and also on a dry track and I also had to learn how to manage the tires,” said Erick.
The whole training program was coordinated by the Canadian team Exclusive Autosport, who were also satisfied with the performance of Erick Schotten.
“Exclusive’s engineer and coach also understood that these were very productive and positive activities. I also learned a lot about the settings thanks to them and I think that in the final set I was able to show that I am competitive and fast,” added the rider.
From now on, Erick Schotten will work to make possible his participation in USF Junior next season.
“I liked the category and the Exclusive Autosport team, I think it will be a very important step in my career. We will work with potential sponsors so that I can compete in the United States next season.
