Sports fans were able to party this weekend. This is because we had Brazilians medaling in various sports around the world.
Highlights were Nathalie Moellhausen, at the Fencing World Cup, in Barcelona; the double on the podium with Augusto Akio and Pedro Barros, at the Skate Park World Championship; in addition to another title for tennis player Luisa Stefani, in women’s doubles at the WTA 500 in Abu Dhabi.

Fencing
After winning the Doha Grand Prix less than two weeks ago, Nathalie Moellhausen repeated her performance this Saturday 11 during the World Cup stage in Barcelona, winning a new gold medal.
In this competition, 37 of the top 40 in the ranking participated and, in the round of 16, the Italian-Brazilian faced the Frenchwoman Marie-Florence Candassamy, her opponent in the final in Doha. In the decision in Spain, Nathalie dominated the fight against South Korean Young Mi Kang and won 15-8.
With these results, the 2019 world champion and epee specialist remains 100% for the 2023 season.
Another title in women’s tennis
Brazilian Luisa Stefani was women’s doubles champion at the WTA 500 in Abu Dhabi. Playing alongside the Chinese Shuai Zhang, this Sunday 12, the Olympic medalist beat the Japanese Shuko Aoyama and the Taiwanese Chan Hao-ching, by 2 sets to 1 (3/6, 6/2 and 10-8).
With this victory, Luisa maintains her unbeaten record this season and wins her third trophy in 2024. Since her return to the field in September last year, the Brazilian has 30 victories and only three defeats.
Doubles in skateboarding
Athletes Augusto Akio and Pedro Barros made Brazilian history at the Skate Park World Cup held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
This Sunday 12th, Akio achieved a score of 92.00 and secured second place. An Olympic medalist in Tokyo, Pedro won bronze by scoring 90.00. American Jagger Eaton took first place among the men.
This championship counts points towards the World Skate Olympic Ranking, which defines which skaters will earn a place to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Under-20 football
Brazil won the 2023 South American Under-20 Football Championship. This Sunday 12, the Brazilian team beat Uruguay 2-0 in the last round of the Hexagonal Final and won the title of the competition for the 12th time. The last achievement dates back to 2011.
