Netherlands beat Germany to claim second Nations League victory

Playing in the Canadian capital, ottawavolleyball team The Netherlands got another good win Men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023. In duel against Germany, You Dutch won by 3 to 0 and picked up their second victory in three matches in this first week of VNL. The Germans, who lost their debut to the Brazilcontinue without winning.

Buoyed by victory in the last game, the Netherlands went into the game against Germany with more confidence. Already in the first set, the Dutch team proved to be superior to the Germans and managed a nice advantage, built in the middle of the game, until closing at 25-20 without a big scare.

In the second set, Germany found a way to even the game and entered the match. A long and balanced partial showed that it could fall on the Germans, but the stage was played at 33 to 31, when the Dutch team managed to open the minimum advantage to close the set and open 2 to 0 in the match.

The loss seemed to discourage Germany, who came back at a slow pace for the third set and saw the Netherlands open up a nice early advantage and continue to manage the scoreline until the home stretch. The Germans still tried to react and get closer, but the victory remained in the Netherlands, 25-21 in part and 3 sets to 0 in the match.

The Netherlands did not depend this time, as in previous matches, on the score of Nimir Abdel-Aziz, who still scored 14 points. The game’s top scorer was point guard Maarten Van Garderen, with 21 points. On the German side, the top scorer was Moritz Reichert with 12 points.

Germany still have two matches to recover in this first week of VNL, tomorrow (10) they will face Italy, at 2 p.m. and on Sunday (11) they will face the hosts, Canada, at 7 p.m. The Netherlands also ended their participation on Sunday, in a confrontation against Argentina at noon.

Also today, in Ottawa, we will have the game between Italy and Cuba, at 5:30 p.m., and also the game of Canada against Argentina, at 9:00 p.m., matches with Sportv transmission.
