For December 31 and January 1, Cultura FM has programmed a series of attractions for its listeners. Among the highlights are unreleased recordings made during the year in São Paulo but also in Europe.

The festivities begin on the 30th, with the presentation of a Late culture
special, at 3 p.m., which offers a retrospective of the musicians and composers honored this year on the occasion of their birthday. Some of the names on the program are: pianist and composer Amaral Vieira (who turned 70 in March), composer John Williams (who turned 90 in February), Canadian pianist Glenn Gould (who would turn 90 in September ), violinist Elisa Fukuda (who turned 70 in November) and the centenary of Santos composer Gilberto Mendes, celebrated in October.

day 31

0h – jazz culture features saxophonist, composer, vocalist and jazz legend Archie Sheep. This record took place in July 2022 during the Glatt & Verkehrt Festival in Austria.

9 a.m. – A Great Orchestra of the Worldin the Chico Carvalho program, he presents “A Tempestade” by Shakespeare and a dramatization of “Morte e Vida Severina” by João Cabral de Melo Neto.

10 a.m. – Joao Carlos Martins bring it light music by composers Eric Coates, Leroy Anderson and Albert Ketèlbey.

11 a.m. – The pleasure of musicon Marcelo Jaffé’s programme, talks about Georg Friedrich Handel’s “Aquatic Music Suites”.

3 p.m. – Music storeIrineu Franco Perpétuo interviews the young violinist Guido Sant’Anna, who at the age of 8 was a finalist in the Prelúdio show, on TV Cultura and this year 2022, at the age of 19, he won first place of the prestigious Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition.

4 p.m. – osesp concerts presents a compilation of the best moments of the 2022 season. The repertoire includes Mozart’s “Coronation Mass”, conducted by Alexander Liebreich, and Antonio Estévez’s “Cantata Criolla”, conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero, among other highlights.

6 p.m. – Selection of special auditorsrunning for two hours, features the songs most requested by the station’s social media followers.

10 p.m. – album of the year, João Marcos Coelho presents a special that brings together the best releases of 2022. Among the albums chosen by Coelho are: “Les Roseaux de Chantants”, by oboist Heinz Holliger; “My Choice” by German singer-songwriter Theo Bleckmann; “Where is Home”, by South African composer and cellist Abel Selaocoe; “Concerto para Vaca e Boi” by Brazilian violist, composer and music researcher Roberto Corrêa and “Saudade” by young São Paulo guitarist Plínio Fernandes, an album that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Classical Albums chart.

Day 01

00h – jazz culture features an exclusive show by Cuban musician Arturo Sandoval. This presentation took place in August 2022, at Sala São Paulo, and was part of the Tucca – International Concerts series.

1 p.m. – contrasts, Emmanuelle Baldini offers a program dedicated to “Miniatures”, classic pieces of the repertoire, much appreciated by the public, such as the Ritual Dance of Fire, by Manuel de Falla, After a Dream, by Gabriel Fauré and Asturias, a work by Isaac Albeniz which is in the repertoire of any self-respecting guitarist. In addition to these, there are other lesser known ones, such as “Le Ronde de Lutins”, by Antônio Mazzini.

3 p.m. – Metropolitan Opera presents “Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi, with baritone Luca Salsi, soprano Lisette Oropesa and tenor Stephen Costello in the main roles and conducted by the Italian Speranza Scappucci.

4 p.m. – New Year’s Concert 2023 by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, with the special participation of the Singing Girls & Singing Boys of Vienna, directed by the Austrian Franz Welser-Möst. Exclusive live recording performed on January 1, 2023, in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, in Vienna, Austria.

8 p.m. – Closing the Exclusive End-of-Year Concerts, the second part of the Academy of St. Martin in the fields, under the direction of the American violinist Joshua Bell, in a recording made in August at the Sala São Paulo, in the framework of the 2022 Cultura Artística Season.
