Brazil won another gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This Friday (9), the women’s duo formed by Duda and Ana Patrícia beat the Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson by 2 sets to 1, with partial on 26/24, 12/21 and 15/10, in the beach volleyball final.

The match started with the superiority of the Canadians who, thanks to an efficient serve, opened an 8-2 lead at the start of the first set. Duda and Ana Patrícia struggled to deal with second-string fastballs, a hallmark of the Canadian duo. However, the Brazilians managed to balance the game and closed the set with a tight score of 26-24.

The second set was marked by a balanced start, with points exchanged between the teams. The Canadians continued to direct the serve towards Duda, who remained firm in receptions and turnovers. The Brazilians, in turn, chose to serve on Brandie, who was having difficulty with the pass. However, after half the set, Melissa and Brandie managed to take the lead, surprising once again with second balls and forcing errors from Ana Patrícia, who was struggling to pass. The Canadians tied the match by winning the set 21-12.

In the tie-break, Duda and Ana Patrícia came back focused and managed to impose their game from the start. Duda, as in the semi-final, stood out in defense and in the backfield.

In Brazil’s deciding point, a mix-up in the net between Ana Patrícia and Brandie resulted in a yellow card for the Canadian. Despite the disagreement, the Brazilians remained focused and closed the set 15-10, securing Brazil’s third gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
