Ponte da Barca invests 900,000 euros to modernize schools

The Council of Ponte da Barca will launch the improvement works of the elementary and secondary schools Diogo Bernardes, in a global investment of around 900,000 euros.

“School is the place where children and young people spend a good part of the day and, therefore, a healthy and comfortable environment is fundamental for their well-being and for their learning”, says the mayor, Augusto Marinho, quoted in a press release sent to the editors.

The intervention “will focus on the improvement and conservation of the building where the kitchen, the dining room and the multifunctional space of the secondary school are located.

In the fundamental school, the works to be carried out include “the improvement and conservation of the building where the kitchen and the dining room are located, the mobility of the outdoor play area and the lateral protection of the play area covered”.

“This benchmark of comfort in physical space should therefore also be extended to the mealtime, recognizing that students spend a large part of their day in schools, having lunch there, which highlights the value of this space, not only from a nutritional point of view. , hygiene and safety, but also social”, underlined the mayor of Barqu.

According to the town hall of Ponte da Barca, “the final report and the draft contract for the project were approved at the last meeting of the town hall”.

Rehabilitation in schools, the Diogo Bernardes elementary and secondary schools, which have approximately 1,200 students, will “fundamentally focus on improving the hygiene and sanitation conditions of the two kitchens, namely the replacement of their equipment and their spatial planning , as well as, with regard to canteens”. /dining rooms, acoustic and passive energy behavior, improving the energy efficiency of heating systems and improving the levels, comfort of interior lighting and supporting furniture”.

“Interventions will also be made in complementary areas, namely in the staff room for the kitchen staff and their changing rooms”.
