The presence of Canadians in the NBA is growing. The United States’ neighbour is one of the great representatives in terms of talent in the league and the proof was last season, when it selected 27 players, according to CBC. It was the tenth consecutive season, Canada being the most represented country in the league, along with the United States.
A similar number are expected to appear on the courts starting October 22, the start date of the 2024-25 NBA season. And the portal “Sportskeeda” has listed the four most talented Canadians in the league that fans should keep an eye on.

4. Dillon Brooks
The Houston Rockets forward doesn’t have the biggest fan base, but he’s still a very talented player, especially in three-point shooting. That led to a four-year, $86 million contract with the franchise.
In total, that’s 72 games with averages of 12.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.8 3-point shots per game, or 42.8% shooting and 35.9% from deep.
3. RJ Barrett
Barrett’s game has improved a lot since joining the Toronto Raptors. Good in the paint, he’s becoming one of the key players in the franchise’s young backbone.
He had 32 games with averages of 21.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, in addition to 0.6 steals.
2. Jamal Murray
The Denver Nuggets star didn’t have the best performances in last season’s playoffs. Still, he remains a great option for the team, especially in partnership with Nikola Jokic.
He played 59 games, averaging 21.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.0 steals per game, shooting an interesting 48.1% from the field.
1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexandre
Finally, we have the young star of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Gilgeous-Alexander is coming off an MVP-caliber season and has the makings of being the franchise’s big name in 2024-25.
The numbers speak for themselves, after all, there are 75 games with averages of 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game, in addition to an incredible 53.5% from the perimeter and 35.3% from deep. Gilgeous-Alexander has all the makings of a big Canadian name in the NBA and for his national team.
