Canadian regional carrier Porter Airlines has officially launched its new route between Toronto (YYZ) and Calgary (YYC). Service to Alberta will complement Porter’s new flights to Edmonton (YEG), which launched Feb. 14.

Porter Airlines’ new route will offer two daily nonstop flights until June 1, when the route will expand to three daily flights to the popular intra-Canadian tourist destination. Calgary is a vibrant, modern city nestled near the Rocky Mountains, offering more than 7 million annual visitors a mix of cosmopolitan and outdoor activities.

According to a report from single flight, the flights will be operated with Porter Airlines’ Embraer E195-E2 regional jet, which joined the carrier’s fleet early last year. The jets offer 132 seats in Porter Airlines’ unique “enhanced economy” class, the only airline to offer this type on the Toronto – Calgary route.

“Launching service in Calgary continues Porter’s westward expansion and marks our entry into southern Alberta,” said Kevin Jackson, Chief Compliance Officer, Porter Airlines.
