The Brazilian is still competing in the C-1 1000 event, in which he became Olympic champion in Tokyo
Isaquias Queiroz made his speed canoe World Cup debut on the right footplayed in Halifax, Canada. The Brazilian was left behind and won his heat in the C-1 500m race, a non-Olympic category. Favorite, he secured the final scheduled for next Saturday (6), at 12:35 p.m., Brasilia time.
In the third round, Isaquias had the Italian Carlo Tacchini as his main opponent. However, he clocked a time of 1:52.70, nearly three seconds ahead of second-placed Tacchini. As only the winners of each heat go directly to the final, the Brazilian has secured his place. The other competitors compete in the semi-finals.

Isaquias will still compete in his main event at the Canoe-Kayak World Cup. He even holds the 1000m world title, won at the 2019 edition in Szeged, Hungary. This time he will not participate in the double canoe competitions, as a strategy of the Brazilian Canoe Confederation.

In addition to Isaquias, other Brazilians participated in the first day of qualifying in Canadian waters. On the C-2 500m, Erlon Silva and Filipe Vieira finished in second place and advanced to the semi-finals. In Paralympic canoeing, Mari Santilli took second place in the women’s 200m, qualifying for the finalwhich takes place on Friday (5), at 11:44 a.m.
