Paris, France) – Félix Auger-Aliassime’s 16-game unbeaten streak on the circuit came to an end this Saturday. Champion of the Florence, Antwerp and Basel tournaments for the past three weeks, the Canadian was overtaken in the semi-finals of the Masters 1000 in Paris by the Dane Holger Rune, author of the partials of 6/4 and 6/2 at 1h27 departure.
The result serves as revenge for Rune, who lost to the Canadian in the Basel final on Sunday. The 19-year-old Dane will play his third consecutive final on the circuit, having also been champion in Stockholm two weeks ago.
It will be the fifth ATP final of Rune’s career, which already has two titles on the circuit. The young tennis player started the season in 103rd place in the rankings and is already in 18th position. She temporarily enters the top 15 and could end the week in 12th place in the world.

Rune’s opponent in this Sunday’s final will come from the match between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has won his two previous duels against the Greek, both this season, and lost to the Serb at last year’s US Open.
Aliassime, on the other hand, holds the best ranking of his career, occupying 8th place at 22 years old and will climb to sixth position on Monday. The Canadian will participate for the first time in his career in the ATP Finals, starting next Sunday in Turin, Italy.

The first set of the semis was the most balanced, but Rune quickly took the lead. He had two break chances in the third game of the match and took advantage of one of them. The Dane didn’t face break points in the splits and only conceded seven points in his service games. He went 10-8 on winners and made 10-11 errors.
At the start of the second set, Rune got two more breaks and went 4/0 on the scoreboard. While the Dane continued to play a very consistent game, the Canadian dropped the intensity a lot, committing more and more errors and double faults. Rune only dropped four points on serve during the end and cruised to a quiet win. The Dane led the match-winning statistic by 20-14 and committed 16 unforced errors against the Canadian’s 24.
