The town hall announces a partnership to acquire exoskeletons for the rehabilitation of children
The City of Salvador announced a cooperation agreement with the Assistance Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy (NACPC) for the purchase of four exoskeletons for children. The protocol of intentions was signed by the mayor, Bruno Reis, this Friday morning (6), at the headquarters of the NACPC.
The equipment models are new in Brazil and will be used for rehabilitation, therapy and assistance to children with reduced mobility due to physical and intellectual disabilities.
One of the objectives of the project is to develop specialized rehabilitation studies using exoskeletons, with the participation of doctors, physiotherapists and nutritionists.
The exoskeleton allows people with reduced mobility to recover or improve their mobility capacity and to carry out their daily activities with greater autonomy.
The equipment is used in children with cerebral palsy, myelomeningoceles, spina bifida, congenital Zika virus syndrome, childhood stroke, Rett syndrome, muscular dystrophies, hemi and paraplegia.
The creator of the technology is the Canadian company Trexo Robotics. NACPC will be the first non-profit entity to have this equipment in Brazilian territory.
