São Caetano wins medals in the first weekend of the Pan American Games

São Caetano was very well represented by Maria Clara Pacheco (taekwondo) and Yuri Guimarães (artistic gymnastics) during the first weekend of the Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile. Maria Clara and Yuri won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

On Saturday, Yuri Guimarães participated in the team confrontation with Brazil, alongside Arthur Nory, Bernardo Miranda, Diogo Soares and Patrick Sampaio. The Caetan native, a PEC (Community Sports Program) graduate, achieved the best score on vault and third on floor, contributing to the Brazilian bronze.

Maria Clara Pacheco shone in taekwondo and was close to the gold medal, in the under 57 kg category, losing in a tiebreaker against Canadian Skylar Park. Caroline Gomes, known as Juma, competed for bronze in the under 67kg category, but withdrew from the competition due to pain in her left leg.
