The Ministry of Health and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) begin this Friday (26) sending medicines to riverside communities in the municipality of Barcelos and the district of Moura, located along the Rio Negro, in Amazonas. It is expected that 14,000 medications will be delivered by June 4, including anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, antihypertensives, contraceptives and painkillers.
In a statement, the ministry said a FAB field hospital will be set up on one of the three ferries used for the operation. The work begins in the municipality of Moura, where the ship will stay until next Sunday (28), heading to Barcelos, where it will stay from May 31 to June 4. During this period, approximately 450 people must be served each day.
As part of the action, services will be offered for the following medical specialties: orthopedics, pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, dermatology, proctology, physiotherapy and dentistry. Services will also be offered in the areas of psychology and social assistance, in addition to preventive cervical examinations and laboratory and imaging tests (x-rays and ultrasounds).
Appointments, according to the ministry, must be made through the health services in each region.
