The largest public hospital in Mossoró and a reference in emergency and emergency care, receiving patients from municipalities throughout the region, the Tarcísio Maia Regional Hospital spent more than 3 hours without electricity, this Monday ( 10).
According to information gathered by the report on the MOSSORÓ HOJE portal, the power went out around 5:30 a.m. and the generator, which was supposed to run the unit in cases like these, did not work.
According to the director of the hospital, Francisca Nilza, the power failure was caused by a short circuit in the low voltage network. The same short circuit caused the generator to continue to run.
Samu ambulances and firefighters were even called for a possible transfer of patients from intensive care, in case the situation persists.
Relatives of patients waited for news at the door of the unit. One said that as soon as he discovered the problem he rushed to the scene, worried about an aunt who was in intensive care.
Power was restored shortly before 9 a.m. Despite the tense atmosphere that settled in the place, no patient needed to be transferred.
Also according to Nilza, patients who needed mechanical ventilation were not harmed, since the equipment has a battery, which ensured its operation.
TOMOGRAPH
On the occasion, Nilza was also asked about the HRTM CT scanner, which has been out of order since the beginning of March.
She explains that she is waiting for the arrival of the bulb (object that allows the operation) to proceed with the repair of the equipment. However, this process should still take about 15-30 days.
Until then, patients who need the examination are taken in a fire department ambulance to Hospital da Liga and then returned to HRTM.
REMODELING
Regarding the reform, the director said that the bidding process for the unit is already operational and is going through the Department of Public Health. She estimates that by June the work will begin.
