Chennai (India) – Luisa Stefani makes her debut this Wednesday at the WTA 250 in Chennai, returning to the courts after a year out of action due to anterior cruciate ligament surgery in her knee. She will have the Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski by her side and will face the duo formed by the Greek Despina Papamichail and the Briton Katie Swan, at 8:30 am (Brasilia time), in the first match of court 2.
Stefani and Dabrowski formed a duo in the second half of last year, with titles in the WTA 1000 in Montreal, Canada, and finalists in the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and WTA 500 in San Jose, USA. United, and semi-finals at the US Open, North American Grand Slam in which the Paulista ended up getting injured.

“We train well, in the air conditioning, it’s great to play with Gabi again. The first training sessions brought back good memories. The matches here are at night, it’s adaptable to the light, the pitch is good, the ball is different, very wet, in general I really enjoyed the first training sessions playing points. Excited for the debut” commented the Brazilian.
The next commitment of the paulista, after Chennai, will be the WTA 500 in Tokyo, where she will play alongside the house tennis player Ena Shibahara. Stefani was originally only going to return to the Japanese tournament, but anticipated the return.
