In another move to expand its relationship with countries developing major nuclear projects, the Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities (ABDAN) recently participated in two events to celebrate Canada Day and independence from the United States. The entity was represented by its president, Celso Cunha.
The Canada Day celebrations took place at an event promoted by the Consulate General of Canada in Rio de Janeiro. The date is one of the most important in the Canadian calendar, which celebrates the formalization of the union of three colonial provinces: Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The United States Independence Day event was hosted by the United States Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro in downtown Rio de Janeiro. The President of ABDAN was received by the Consul General of the United States in Rio de Janeiro, Jacqueline Ward.
Over the past few months, ABDAN has strengthened its ties with several countries in the nuclear field, through several meetings with representatives of major multinationals in the sector. As Petronotícias published, the association received executives from the American companies Westinghouse and Holtec, with the aim of discussing business opportunities in the Brazilian nuclear sector. ABDAN also met leaders of European companies, such as the Belgian Tractebel and the French EDF.
