Here you will find a summary of the second day of the Pan American Games, which are taking place in Santiago. The message will be updated throughout each dispute day.
ATHLETICS
Brazil comes off the podium at the Santiago Marathon. Johnatas de Oliveira finished 5th and Paulo Roberto de Paula 6th in the men’s race.
Among the women, Valdirene do Santos finished 8th and Andrea Hessel 9th.
BADMINTON
In men’s singles, Jonathan Matias faced Venezuelan Frank Araujo and only needed 22 minutes to easily win 2-0 with scores of 21-10 and 21-8. Still in men’s singles, Ygor Coelho beat Argentinian Nicolas Oliva 2-0 and partial scores of 21-17 and 21-15 in just over half an hour of total play.
In women’s singles, Samia Lima lost 2-0 against American Beiwen Zhang, 21-14 and 21-6 and Juliana Vieira was beaten by Canadian Eliana-ruobing Zhang 2-0 and 21-13 and 22-20 in a match that lasted 51 minutes.
In men’s doubles, Davi Silva/Fabrício Farias eliminated Jamaicans Bradley Evans/Samuel Ricketts 2-0 and partial scores of 21-11 and 21-12 in just under half an hour of play.
In women’s doubles, Jaqueline Lima/Samia Lima were eliminated by WO due to Jaqueline’s absence (cut at the last minute due to the need for emergency surgery). Another Brazilian pair in the group, Juliana Vieira/Sania Lima, had no difficulty defeating the hosts Ashley Rubilar/Vania Conejero by 2-0 and by a split of 21-6 and 21-8.

BOXING
Yuri Falcão won in the round of 16 in the under 63.5 kg category. He defeated Grenadian Tyshawn Jones in a match that was stopped by the judge in the third round due to the Brazilian’s technical superiority.
SKATEBOARD
Raicca Ventura won silver in the women’s skate park;
ROAD CYCLING
Ana Paula Polegatch finished 10th in the women’s time trial.
MODERN PENTATHLON
Among the women, all three Brazilians qualified for the decision. Stephany Saraiva improved to seventh, Marcela Mello to 13th and Isabela Abreu to 17th.
ROWING
Antônia Motta and Isabelle Camargo go to the women’s lightweight double scull repechage. Uncas Batista and Marcelo Barbosa come in 5th place in the Light Skiff Duplo heat and also go to the repechage
Milena Matias and Maria Clara Araújo won the repechage and reached the A final in the women’s pair, as well as Alef Fontoura and Bernardo Timm in the men’s pair. Brasilo’s 8-person mixed team also qualified for the A final.
BASEBALL
SPORTIVE SHOOT
In the men’s rapid fire pistol, Vladimir da Silveira finished 9th and Emerson Duarte 13th, not qualifying for the final.
In men’s skeet, Roberth de Oliveira finished 12th while Renato Portela finished 18th. In the women’s category, we had the best Brazilian result of the day in the modality with Georgia Furquim and her 5th place. Unfortunately, the Olympic place did not arrive, but there are still possibilities.
VOLLEYBALL
The women’s team won another quiet victory, this time against Argentina, 3 sets to 0.
SPORT CLIMBING
The Brazilians did not progress in the Bouder and led the semi-finals. Anja Koehler came in fourteenth, followed by Bianca Castro and Mariana Hanggi. Only the top eight made the decision.
BMX CYCLING RACING
Brazil came close to medaling in the women’s BMX Racing competition, with Priscilla Stevaux placing 4th. Paola Reis, who had competed well, fell and reached 8th place in the final. In the men’s race, Brazilians Bruno Cogo and Pedro Vinícius Queiroz lost in the semifinals and said goodbye to the competition without fighting for the medals.
BODYBUILDING
Eduarda Ribeiro placed eighth in the women’s 59kg, lifting a total of 205kg.
DIVING
Rebeca Santana qualified in twelfth place for the 1m springboard final, last place for the decision. Luana Lira finished thirteenth and was the first reserve.
