Swiatek suffers but wins at Wimbledon; rublev wins the battle

The Polish guy Iga Swiatek suffered a lot, but managed to reach this Sunday (9), in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, the third grand slam of the season.

Seeded number 1, Swiatek had to turn against the Swiss Belinda Bencic, Olympic champion, to win 2-1, partials of 6/7, 7/6 and 6/3. In the next round, she will face Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.

Another top 10 who is in the quarterfinals is American Jessica Pegula (4), who made it 2-0 to Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6/1 and 6/3).

On the men’s side, 7th-seeded Russian Andrey Rublev opened 2-0 but let Kazakh Alexander Bublik draw to win in the end 3-2, partials 7/5 6/3 6 /7 6/7 and 6/4.

He will face the winner of the match between Serbian Novak Djokovic and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, which will end on Monday (10) with a Serbian victory 2-0.

Another top 10 winner was Italian Jannik Sinner (8) who beat Colombian Daniel Galan 3-0 (7/6 6/4 and 6/3).

Brazilian victory in doubles at Wimbledon

Sunday was also marked by victories for the Brazilian duos. In women’s doubles, the Brazilian Ingrid Martins. alongside the Belarusian Lidziya Marozava, ensured in the round of 16 by beaten by a double 6/4 the Romanians Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian.
