At the 11th edition of the IPMA on Saturday night, Portugal won nine of the 12 competing categories, in a gala presented by actress Daniela Ruah and TV presenter Ricardo Farias, which featured performances artists such as José Cid, Marisa Liz, Diogo Piçarra, Pedro Abrunhosa, Plutonio, Toy, among others.
At the event, which took place at the Providence Performing Arts Center in the US state of Rhode Island, The Black Mamba (Portugal) won the “Best Pop Performance” category; Equinocio (Portugal) “Best Traditional Performance” and Hélder Bruno (Portugal) “Best World Music Performance”.
“O Sol Brilha”, by Richfellaz (Portugal) was distinguished as “Song of the Year”; VAXXO (Canada) won “Best Rock Performance”, TOM GVNG (France) won “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Performance” and Jâca (United States of America) won “Best Instrumental Performance”. “.
The “Music Video of the Year” was won by Diogo Pinto and Ricardo Bernardino (Portugal) with “Gato Preto”. Tomás (Portugal) won the “Popular Music” category and Marcelo (Portugal) won the “Best Fado Performance”.
Rafaella (Portugal) won in the “New Talent” category, which earned her a cash prize of 2,000 dollars (about 1,850 euros), and Rita Rocha (Portugal) won the “People’s Choice”.
In total, artists from nine countries have been nominated for this year’s edition of IPMA, an event that annually distinguishes artists of Portuguese origin.
