some of the best paralympic triathletes of the world competed in this Saturday (08) in Montreal, in Canadaanother step of World Triathlon for the 2023 seriesin competition which started the period of Paralympic qualification. The dispute took place on the famous Formula 1 circuit Gilles Villeneuve and had the Paralympic athletes from Brazil get off to a good start Paris 2024, ensure two bronze medals and always a fourth place.
Three-time PTWC World Champion and Tokyo Paralympic Games silver medalist Lauren Parker (AUS) claimed her 11th consecutive victory in Montreal, followed by Kendall Gretsch in second and Brazilian Jéssica Ferreira who won an important medal bronze in the competition.
Also on the women’s side, in the PTVI category, Spain’s Susana Rodriguez edged out Ireland’s Chloe Maccombe and took the lead in the hunt for an early ranking for Paris. Bronze went to Frenchwoman Héloïse Courbusier, who ended up crossing the finish line ahead of Brazilian Letícia Freitas, fourth in the category.
The other Brazilian medal came in the PTS5 clash, with Ronan Cordeiro taking bronze in the clash and replacing other favorites. The gold medal went to favorite Stefan Daniel, a Canadian athlete, who defeated Chris Hammer of the United States, who won silver.
Brazil was also present in the PTS4 race, with Jorge Luis Fonseca, who faced a hotly contested race and ended up in 10th place. The winner is Frenchman Alexis Hanquinquant, who has won every race he has entered since 2019. The silver medal went to American Carson Clough and the bronze to Antônio Franko of Croatia.
