We are on the third day of the Basketball World Cup and the zebra has already traversed the competition. The French team, even reinforced by its NBA players, lost the second match of the competition and was eliminated from the tournament. Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro and Germany are guaranteed to participate in the next phase. Check out the match recap below:
Group H
Latvia vs France
France were looking to recover from the loss suffered by a wide margin of points against Canada, and were winning well, until having a bad last quarter, when the Latvians reacted, took 13 points clear, turning in the last minute. France still had the winning ball, but Sylvain Francisco made a mistake and Latvia won 88-86, qualifying and knocking France out of the competition.
The key moment in the comeback was the dismissal of Nando de Colo, who committed his second unsportsmanlike foul and was ejected from the game with 6 minutes remaining, which motivated Latvia to chase after the score and Turn the situation around.
Artur Zagards with 22 points and Rolands Smits with 20 points were the highlights for Latvia. But the biggest scorer of the game was Evan Fournier with 27 points.
Lebanon vs Canada

The Canadian team remains devastating and ignored the Lebanese team, winning 128-73. The Canadians broke the record for assists in a single World Cup game. There were 44 in the entire match and nine players had double-digit scores. With RJ Barrett with 17 points as top scorer.
With this result, Canada qualified for the next phase and decides the first place of group H (group that crosses with the group of Brazil in the next phase) with Latvia.

dominican republic vs italy
The Dominicans are still in a great phase and won the second match, in a tight duel against Italy in which they won by 87 to 82. Now the Dominican Republic only needs a simple victory to qualify for the next phase. Andrés Feliz, with 24 points – seven of 3 in the game – and Karl Anthony Towns with 24 points and 11 rebounds, were the highlights.
Angola v Philippines
Crowds filled the gymnasium to cheer on the Philippines national team, but they once again disappointed their home crowd, beaten by Angola 80-70, knocked out of the competition. Montenegro vs Egypt
The Montenegrin team moved on to the next stage with another quiet victory, this time over Egypt – 89-74. Nikola Vucevic was once again the name of the Montenegro team with 17 points.
Lithuania vs Mexico
Lithuania was another Group D selection that qualified for the next phase, having beaten Mexico 96-66. Jonas Valanciunas with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds and Rokas Jakubiatis also with 15 points were the best Lithuanians Match.
Group E
Australia v Germany

The Germans showed they were in for a great time and in an electrifying duel against Australia they won 85-82 and progressed to the next stage. Josh Giddey still tried to equalize with a shot from midfield, but he missed and the Germans were able to celebrate another triumph.
Dennis Schroder was decisive for Germany with 30 points in the match, followed by Maodo Lo with 20 points. For Australia, Patty Mils with 21 points and Giddey with 17 were the top scorers.
Japan vs Finland
Playing at home, the Japanese had the support of the public to achieve an impeccable last quarter to reverse the situation and win the match by 98 to 88 and still dream of a place in the next phase. Joshua Hawkinson with 28 points and 19 rebounds and Yuki Kawamura with 25 points were the names for Japan in the game.
