Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat against Rennes on Sunday, in a match that marked the return of the attacking trio formed by Messi, Neymar and Mbappé to the French Championship. After the setback, the Brazilian star was the main target of criticism from RMC Sports’ After Foot show.

Journalist Daniel Riolo is the one who made the strongest statements. He listed the number 10 shirt as the “greatest failure in football history”. Neymar finished the match without a shot in the opposing goal.

“He made fun of all the PSG fans who were having a good half-season because he had a World Cup to prepare for. In terms of hiring, transfer, salary, this is the biggest failure in the history of football”, he exploded.

Neymar has also not escaped criticism from the newspaper L’Equipe, the main French sports daily. The Brazilian scored 3 for his poor performance against Rennes. “Neymar was in difficulty, losing more balls than usual and worried less than a month from the round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich, in the Champions League”, writes the French newspaper.

Despite the defeat, PSG remain isolated at the top of the championship, with 47 points, three more than vice-leader Lens. Neymar, in turn, was one of two Brazilians nominated for The Best award, for the best in the world, by FIFA. The country’s other representative in the dispute is Real Madrid’s Vinícius Junior.
