Luciano Nakabashi explains how the evolutionary history of these countries makes them different
In this week’s “Economic Thinking” column, Professor Luciano Nakabashi lists the differences in evolution between Latin American countries and the United States and Canada. In Brazil, for example, colonization was one of exploitation: great concentration of political and economic power and slave labor. The United States and Canada, on the other hand, were settled and settled by European immigrants, with free labor and land to farm.
