The Ministry of Health announced a 30% increase in the amounts allocated to cover the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu n°192). This percentage represents, according to the ministry, an increase of 396 million reais per year in transfers.
“With this adjustment, the total allocated to the service will increase from R$1.3 billion to R$1.7 billion per year. This increase aims to minimize the burden on municipalities and is also a way of promoting the generalization of Samu 192, the numerical values of which have no longer been updated since 2013″, indicates the ministry in a note.
According to the ministry, a new tender process will be finalized later this year with a view to expanding the fleet. The planned investment amounts to BRL 842 million for the acquisition of 1,886 new vehicles, of which 1,633 units will be distributed for fleet renewal; 185 will be for the new basic support units (USB); and 68 vehicles will serve the new Advanced Support units (USA).
“The current vehicle supply contract provides for another 239 new units to be delivered this year. The vehicles will be used to renew the Samu 192 fleet for the years 2015 and 2016,” the ministry said.
The new vehicles will be distributed in 16 states:
– 47 units for the State of Bahia;
– 47 units for the state of Minas Gerais;
– 33 units for the State of Ceará;
– 29 units for the State of Paraíba;
– 20 units for the State of São Paulo;
