A US Air Force F-22 fighter shot down an unidentified object in the skies over Canada on Saturday.
It is the third such incident in a short time, a day after another object was shot down over Alaska and a week after a Chinese spy balloon was shot down after flying over a large part of North American territory.
Saturday’s incident was revealed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau through a message on the social network Twitter.
Trudeau, who said he was in contact with US President Joe Biden, added that Canadian forces are now trying to recover and analyze the wreckage of the aircraft, which ended up crashing in the Yukon Territory. far from the northwest of the country, next to Alaska.
Then, a week ago, the Pentagon and the White House pointed the finger at China, which recognized as its first ball detected in North America, details of the two most recent incidents are scarce.
Regarding the object shot down on Friday, the armed forces only indicated that it would be the size of a “small car”, that it was flying at 40,000 feet and that it appeared to be unmanned: “We have not other information at this time about the object, including its capabilities, destination or origin”.
However, the context of these last two incidents is the same in which the Chinese spy balloon was detected last week: an escalation of tension between Washington and Beijing, the United States accusing China of carrying out a global program of espionage in through these flying objects, formerly cataloged as UFOs.
