The main names of the Brazilian and world beach volleyball scene will be in Campo Grande this Friday (29) for the dispute of the 7th stage of the Top-8 of the Brazilian modality circuit, disputed at the Parque das Nações Indígenas.
The Top 8 stage of the Brazilian circuit will be played through a group stage, where 32 male and female athletes will enter the sand court, starting at 8:30 am.
On the men’s side, the star duo of the competition are Bruno Schmidt from Brasilia and Saymon from Mato Grosso do Sul.
During the last stage of the Top 8 disputed in Vila Velha (ES), Bruno and Saymon won the first title of the duo formed last year. During the Beach Volleyball World Cup dispute in Rome 2022, the duo was eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Brazilians André/George, finishing in fifth place in the general classification of the tournament.
Bruno Schmidt is the nephew of former basketball player Oscar Schmidt, and his main achievement in his career is gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, in addition to being world champion in 2015 in the Netherlands.
For women, Campo Grande hosts the duo Duda and Ana Patrícia, current world champion duo. At the Foro Italico stadium in Rome in June, Duda and Ana Patrícia won the gold medal at the World Championship, beating Canadians Bukovec and Brandie in the final by 2 sets to 0 (21/17 and 21/19).
Sergipe Duda represented Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, in addition to being world champion in 2018 and now in 2022.
