Toronto polling station 1212 was removed and did not register the vote of Bolsonaro voters #rumor

Rumor – The man voted for Bolsonaro, at polling station 1212, in Toronto, Canada, but the section is not included in the TSE system of election results.

The 2022 elections ended on October 30, with the victory of former President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva, chosen to govern Brazil for 4 years from 2023. But it seems that the end, in fact, of the he election is far from over for some. people.

Since the result, supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro are not happy with the conclusion of the 2022 elections. As a result, they have decided to block the roads to show their outrage and ask the military to take over.

In this same climate, false stories of alleged fraud in electronic voting machines are circulating on social networks. Today’s story is an example. According to a publication, polling station 1212, in Toronto (Canada), would have been cleared. According to the video that accompanies the account, the section recorded at least one vote for President Jair Bolsonaro, but this is not in the history of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE). Check:

“Speak up, people. How are you? My name is Paulo Faria, I live in Canada, I live in Barrie,… more or less 1h30 from Toronto, in the north I live. I conducted […] where I will vote. It’s here on my ballot. See? I voted for local 1212. Keep that number here, okay? Section 1212. Area 001. Let’s go and meet. I’ll show you what’s going on here. I want to see if there is a way to explain this here. Go on. Election search, second round. I’ll try to do it quickly here so the video doesn’t get bigger. Ballot box. Yeah, outside, it’s here, outside. My location: Toronto, right? I will put it here. Toronto. Tremendous. My zone: 1. Are we going to see my section again? 1212. Let’s see if 1212 is here. Zoom in there, people. 1031, 1231, 1280. That’s 12, huh? Look there, huh? 1280, please show the computer again. 1280, 1362, 1402, still there. Until the end for you to see, look over there. There is no 1212. I wanted to know, sir. Alexandre de Moraes, where is my section, where did my vote go? I am Brazilian, I have the right to vote. People, please post this here. Let’s go where we need to go, because I went to vote and I want to know where my vote is. Big hug”.

Toronto polling station 1212 cleared and did not register Bolsonaro voters’ vote?

The story caused a real buzz on social networks, especially on YouTube, and fueled the thesis that the polls had been rigged. However, the story is not at all what it seems. The explanation can be found at the junction of certain sections of the site.

Faced with the message, we were very suspicious, because it presents the main characteristics of fake news on the internet, such as the vagueness, extremely alarmist character and the absence of information on the subject in reliable communication vehicles.

Also, fake stories of alleged voter fraud are nothing new here. The Boatos.org team has already denied several of them, such as the one who said that Bolsonaro would prove tomorrow, at 7 p.m., that there was fraud in the electionsπŸ‡§πŸ‡· Also the one that indicated Swedish judge Anna Ase reportedly spoke of fraud in Brazil’s 2022 electionand, finally, the one who pointed out that an audit in Argentina would have proven fraud at the Brazilian ballot box and was presented liveπŸ‡§πŸ‡·

We then decided to take the same route indicated by the man in the video. We entered the TSE website and searched for polling station 1212, in Toronto, Canada. In fact, the section does not appear in the history of the second round of the 2022 elections. But the explanation is quite simple.

Electoral section 1212 was merged with another sectionπŸ‡§πŸ‡· According to the TSE, this practice is provided for by law and, in 2022, it occurred in more than a thousand sections installed abroad. Also according to the TSE, this practice occurs in sections with few voters, to reduce operating costs. Finally, the TSE itself also explained that the results page only shows the main sections, i.e. if you select the section to which the section in question was added (1212), you will see that the votes have been counted. According to the TSE, to see the result in all sections, including those that have been aggregated, just access the TSE’s open data portal.

In short: the story that says polling station 1212, in Toronto, Canada, was suppressed so as not to register a vote for Bolsonaro is false! The section in question has been added to another section that is in the same place. This type of action is provided for by law and takes place in sections with few voters, in order to reduce the operating costs of the elections. The voter was unable to identify section 1212 on the results page because the tab only displays the main sections. In this way, the votes of the aggregated sections appear in the sections that received the merger. The TSE itself denied the story and pointed out that the data can be viewed separately on the TSE’s open data portal. In other words, the story is nothing but balela!
