The new university ranking published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2023, published this Wednesday 26, ranks UFRGS ranked 241st to 260th among 700 universities around the world taking action to address environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges. The methodology used in the survey takes into account environmental sustainability indicators and social impact measures. Among the 31 Latin American universities present in the ranking, UFRGS occupies 6th place, behind USP, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Unam), PUC-Chile, Unicamp and Unesp. And, among the 14 Brazilians listed, the UFRGS occupied the 4th place.
In the three objectives of the Environmental Impact category, UFRGS ranked 6th among Brazilian companies. In terms of the five goals in the Environmental Impact category, the highest ranking by the UFRGS was given to the Equality goal, ranking second, just behind the USP. In the objectives of knowledge transfer and impact on education, UFRGS ranked third. And, observing the Employment and Opportunities and Quality of Life objectives, UFRGS ranked 5th among the 14 Brazilian universities listed. The scores of the top Brazilian higher education institutions ranked in this edition of the ranking can be seen in the tables below.
The Top 5 of the ranking is made up of the University of California at Berkeley (USA), the Canadian University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia, the University of Edinburgh (UK ) and the Australian University of New South Wales. The full ranking is available on the QS website.
