In an interview with ‘Sky Sports’ television channel, Williams CEO Jost Capito explains that the team will consider extending Nicholas Latifi’s contract for next season. In recent months, there have been many rumors that the Canadian could leave at the end of this year.
In the interview, the British team CEO was asked about the driver pairing for 2023. Capito made it clear that Williams could continue to partner with the Canadian driver next season. “We have our two pilots, announces Albon. I think he handled our drivers very well. Still with Latifi, he has improved a lot in recent races.
“He is ready to continue with us and we would be ready to continue with him. He now has three more European races where he can prove that he can improve with the car, become more confident with the car. He was on a he’s been on his way lately. If he uses the brakes properly and shows his performance, there’s a good chance we’ll be with him next year,” Capito said.
Recently, the team’s reserve driver, Logan Sargeant, has been linked with a promotion to F1, after performing well in Formula 2. The Williams CEO has also given prominence to the young driver’s name.
“On the other hand, we have our own young drivers. We have Logan, he is having a fantastic season in F2, he has had a bit of bad luck recently. But he has a good chance of getting the Super License points next year. I think we are ranked among the drivers and we have good options,” Capito concluded.
