Brazilian team

The delegation of the women’s national team begins to arrive in Santos (SP), this Sunday (6), to begin preparations for the two friendly matches against Canada on Brazilian soil. Matches will be played between November 7 and November 15 in the FIFA Date window. Canarinho will face the Canadians on the 11th, at 3:15 p.m., in Vila Belmiro, in Santos (SP), and on the 15th, at 3:15 p.m., at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo (SP).

During their visit to Santos, the team will be concentrated from November 6 to 13 at the Sheraton Santos Hotel. Later, on the 14th, the delegation will travel to São Paulo, where they will stay at the Marriott Hotel at São Paulo Airport.

Coach Pia Sundhage will lead most of the Women’s National Team training sessions at the Rei Pelé Training Center in Santos (SP). The exceptions will be in training on the 10th, which will take place at the stage of the first duel, in Vila Belmiro, and on November 14, which will be held at the Joaquim Grava Training Center, in São Paulo (SP).

History between Brazil and Canada

Since Pia took charge of the women’s national team, this will be the sixth match between Brazil and Canada. On each occasion, the duels were marked by great games. At the China Tournament, in November 2019, Brazil won 4-0. Shortly after, in March 2020, at the France Tournament, they drew 2-2. At the She Believes Cup, in February 2021, another meeting and Canarinho triumphs by 2 to 0.

In the home stretch of preparation for the Olympics, in April 2021, a 0-0 draw. Finally, in the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the team led by coach Beverly Priestman eliminated the Selection on penalties, winning by 4 to 3. In Japan, the Canadian team won the gold medal. The general story reinforces the balance between the two selections. Since the first meeting in 1996, there have been nine Brazilian wins, nine draws and eight defeats.
