National team coach called up 23 players for Santos and São Paulo matches
The women’s national team is called up for the FIFA Date in November. This Tuesday (1), coach Pia Sundhage announced the 23 athletes who will be part of the group that will defend Brazil in the two friendlies against Canada. Brazil will face the Canadians in two of the biggest stadiums for the Brazilian public, Vila Belmiro, in Santos (SP), on the 11th, and Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo (SP), on the 15th.
For this call, Pia maintained the basis of the last FIFA Date, the news was due to the return of goalkeeper Lorena, from Grêmio, and striker Debinha, from North Carolina Courage (USA), recovering from injury, in addition to the presence of Bruninha, from OL Reign (USA), who finds an opportunity in the first team. The current CONMEBOL Libertadores Feminina champions are also represented in the national squad with midfielder Ary Borges and striker Bia Zaneratto.
With ten consecutive victories, 33 goals scored and only one conceded, the team led by Pia Sundhage will have another big test in view of the World Cup, whose opponents were known on October 22. In the first phase, Brazil is in group F and will face the team qualified in the play-offs (China Taipei, Panama, Paraguay or Papua New Guinea), France and Jamaica.
