Five of the top ten ATP rankings will be in action in Barcelona. Carlos Alcaraz, who returns to the courts after missing Monte Carlo through injury, is the main favorite for the title. He has reached three finals of four tournaments played in 2024, with titles in Buenos Aires (clay) and Indian Wells (hard court).
world number 5, Stefanos Tsitsipas enters ATP Barcelona as the second seed. The Australian Open runner-up Greek has two runners-up in the Spanish tournament, with defeats to Rafael Nadal in 2018 and 2021. The draw will feature 48 players, with the top 16 seeds advancing directly to the second round. Alcaraz, seeded number 1, makes his debut against Portugal’s Nuno Borges. In his quadrant, Tiafoe appears as the first name for a possible quarter-final, while Ruud and Russia’s Karen Khachanov are the semi-final headliners.
On the other side of the table, Tsitsipas could face Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the round of 16, with Australian Alex de Minaur and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov being favorites for the quarter-finals. The Greek has names like Sinner, Norrie, Musetti and even Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman as potential semi-final opponents.
