Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shot down an unidentified flying object that entered Canadian airspace without clearance.
The alert was issued by the North American Air Defense Agency (NORAD), which detected and was monitoring another strange “object” passing over northern Canada.
Military planes in the region, precisely between Canada and Alaska, shot down the object, on the orders of Trudeau.
“I ordered the shooting down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. NORAD command shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and American aircraft were deployed and an F- 22 successfully fired the object,” the official confirmed. .
In a message posted on the social network Twitter, Justin Trudeau said he spoke with US President Joe Biden this Saturday afternoon about the issue of the unidentified object.
The Canadian Forces will now collect and analyze the wreckage of the plane, according to Justin Trudeau. The FBI is working with authorities in Ottawa.
The Canadian Prime Minister did not provide further details on the case.
Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand later said at a press conference that the object, which was shot down at an altitude of 40,000 feet, will have a “cylindrical shape”.
According to Anita Anand, the object “appears to be smaller than the one that was shot down off North Carolina”, but similar, in reference to the Chinese surveillance balloon shot down this week in the United States.
“We now intend to recover the wreckage of the object to find out more about it. Later we will provide more information,” said the Minister of Defense of Canada.
It is unclear at this time what object it was or whether it is related to the alleged Chinese spy balloon, or the other unidentified object that was shot down by the United States on Friday.
This is the third unidentified flying object shot down in recent days alone, in the United States and Canada.
