Saturday was dedicated to the downhill on the third day of the third stage of the MTB World Cup. On the men’s side, which won the 2,175-metre track in Leogang, Austria, Austrian host Andreas Kolb of Team Continental Atherton clocked 2’59.335″ second at 3’00.015″. Canadian Jackson Goldstone of the Santa Cruz Syndicate was third, clocking 3’00.246″ in the final. In all, 30 athletes competed in the final contest.
Among the women, the Austrian Valentina Höll, of the Rockshox Trek Race Team, won. She finished the race in 3’23.222″. Half a second later, the Swiss Camille Balanche ended up taking second place, with 3’27.525″. Completing the podium, England’s Rachel Atherton, who returned to competition after four years and won the 40th DH Cup stage of her career, finished third, with a time of 3’30.556″. played in the final.
The main Elite competitions of the modality took place under sunny skies and the average temperature was 21º in the Austrian Alps.

Brazil on DHI
Two athletes competed for Brazil in the elite downhill. Maurício Cirne, 24, fell out of qualifying, finishing 121st.
In the same stage, Roger Vieira of Impact Racing qualified for the semi-final in 64th place. He finished the semi-final in 38th place, not qualifying for the final as only the thirty fastest times were ranked. Roger finished his participation in the second stage of the downhill in 3’11.141″, a difference of 8.071s for the best placed in the semi-final. There was no women’s contest for Brazil in the stage.
