UFC legend, Canadian fighter Georges St-Pierre announced his return to competitive sports on Thursday. But not in MMA: GSP will fight no-gi jiu-jitsu in the Fight Pass Invitational, a tournament promoted by Ultimate. The former two-weight division champion’s debut is set for December.

– I have 42 years old. I felt towards the end, when I retired, that I needed something. I like the flavor of the competition, I wanted to get it back. I would love to feel the adrenaline again and I think this is an avenue for fighters who still want to compete, earn money and have fun with the fans – said St-Pierre during the announcement, made ahead of the UFC 290 press conference this Thursday., in Las Vegas.
According to the announcement, GSP will be making their return on December 14 at Fight Pass Invitational 6.
A jiu-jitsu black belt under Bruno Fernandes, Georges St-Pierre, 42, has not competed since 2017, when he beat Michael Bisping to win the UFC middleweight belt. He retired shortly thereafter. In MMA, the Canadian had a 15-year career as a professional, with 26 wins and only two losses, including two reigns as UFC welterweight champion (77.1 kg).
GSP also competed in submission grappling, a style of no-gi grappling that combines wrestling and jiu-jitsu and has modified rules. In 2005, the Canadian took part in the ADCC World Championship, the sport’s most prestigious tournament, with a win on points and a loss by submission to Brazilian Léo Santos.
