You are new to the franchise Impossible mission. How would you describe your experience?
The whole filming experience was amazing and it’s inspiring to work with filmmakers like Tom and McQ. Its vision is so beautiful and cinematic, and the action sequences and locations are stunning. It was a dream of mine to be part of this franchise. Before being cast in the film, I was training and learning martial arts. When I blocked training on my calendar, instead of writing ‘acrobatic training’ or ‘martial arts class’, I sometimes wrote Impossible mission. I did it for fun, but also to manifest the kind of movies I want to be a part of.”

Why did you want to make a film about Impossible mission for so long?
I’ve always been a big fan. I was very young when I saw the first movie Impossible mission, I saw it on an old black and white TV. Even though the TV wasn’t working very well, I was mesmerized by the action and Ethan hung on that wire. The cast included Jean Reno and Emanuelle Beart, and it was the first major Hollywood film in which I remember seeing French actors. It opened the door in my mind that French actors could be in these great American movies, and maybe I could be in a movie like Impossible mission A day. I’ve wanted to do an action movie for a while. It’s one of the reasons why I do martial arts in my free time. And the movies of Impossible mission are incredible examples of great action movies. Also, the women in the film are very strong characters and have their own agency. They are fighters and equals – not just the girlfriend waiting to be rescued.

What can you tell us about your character, Paris? She looks pretty deadly…
Paris works with Esai Morales’ character, Gabriel. She is a mysterious and enigmatic presence with many layers of personality. And she’s a fighter. In these films, they develop the fighting styles of each character around the skills of each actor. Because I trained in martial arts for a long time, doing things like kickboxing and taekwondo and other disciplines, we created a way of fighting that incorporates all of that. So she has different action skills.

What was it like working with Tom Cruise?
Tom inspires and challenges me every day. He works very hard and is a very generous human being, on and off screen. Although he is the star of the film, he is very collaborative and always makes sure the other characters have their moment to shine.

What was the process of building your character in a feature film? Impossible mission?
Unlike other films, the character does not start on paper. He is evolving. It can be a daunting process because there is nothing on the page at the start. Finding Paris was a team effort with all departments involved. We did a lot of camera testing, experimenting with different hairstyle, makeup, and costume variations. We played with the way I behaved and the physicality of the character. As an actress, it was fascinating and I’m not sure other filmmakers could pull it off. It was scary at times, but also very liberating.”

Why is McQ such a good director for these films?
McQ is a visionary. He has this notion of frame, composition and movement. He works as much on dialogue as on the angle and composition of a shot. He manages to get his actors to convey emotion without speaking and directs us physically in a way that feels organic. Every character in this movie is special and they make everyone strong in their own way. I learned so much.

Where did you look for inspiration to prepare to play in Paris?
When I arrived in Paris, I was inspired by the observation of animals. Strange animals – prehistoric birds such as the shoe-billed stork. I watched videos of them when it came to understanding how she moved. Because it’s such a physical job, I also worked a lot with Sam Eastwood, and I did Pilates, to build my core and avoid injury. I also learned how to fight with swords – and I loved it!

What can audiences expect from the greatest Impossible mission so far?
You can expect to be surprised. There are so many really cool action scenes. The fights are awesome. The car chase in Rome is amazing. The tone of the film is quite different. There is something mystical and haunting about it. But it’s also fun, heartwarming, and an amazing action movie.

What was your favorite scene to shoot in this film and why?
There are so many amazing scenes in the movie, but my favorite scene to shoot was an action sequence in Venice. We trained for almost a year choreographing the scene. It was complicated to turn because of the narrowness of the driveway. This meant we had to get creative with camera movement and positioning. We played with heights instead of widths to make it a unique fight scene.

What would you say to other actors joining the franchise? Impossible mission in the future?
What can they expect from the experience?
It is one of the most exciting and unique experiences. With Tom and McQ in the lead, it creates a domino effect with everyone inspiring and complementing each other. And you can get addicted to skydiving (laugh).
