The Ukrainian president said goodbye to Canada moments ago with a thank you message on social media. Volodymyr Zelensky leaves the country satisfied, the last of the G7 members to receive a visit from the Ukrainian leader, who today announced new military aid for Ukrainian forces to defend against invaders.
“Canada will train our pilots for the F-16 and send more missiles for air defense. The new military aid package announced today includes armored vehicles and medical assistance,” he begins by elaborating.
“We signed a renewed free trade agreement and a memorandum on the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Ukraine. We also discussed the peace formula, reconstruction, mine clearance and security guarantees on the way to Ukraine towards NATO,” he added.
Zelensky ended his message by thanking Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: “I am sincerely grateful to Prime Minister Trudeau, his government and all Canadians for continuing to support Ukraine.”
During our discussions, @JustinTrudeau and I reaffirmed the strong partnership between Ukraine and Canada.
