How Matthew Perry and Justin Trudeau met
Their parents were close. Matthew Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, was press secretary for Justin’s father, Pierre Trudeau, when he was Prime Minister of Canada.
The distant relationship between the two was recalled recently, in 2017, when Matthew Perry participated in the show Jimmy Kimmel Live! and revealed that he had bullied the Canadian Prime Minister when he was in 5th grade.
“I don’t remember why I did it,” he told the program. “I think it’s because he was better than me and my friend at sports, and we were jealous. I’m not proud of it at all,” he said at the time.
Trudeau, at the time, took to Twitter and responded good-naturedly: “I thought about it for a bit and, you know what? Who didn’t want to punch Chandler? How about a revenge, Matthew Perry?
The actor kept a good-natured tone in his response: “I think I will let your request for revenge pass, dear sir (given that you currently have an army at your disposal).
