The Winter Olympics had one of the best moments of the competition so far this morning. Three years after beating cancer, Canadian Max Parrot won gold in one of the most hotly contested men’s snowboard slopestyle events in Olympic Games history.
Competing against Chinese Su Yiming (17) head to head for the lead, Max Marrot posted an expressive score of 90.96 points in his second of three runs to win the gold medal, managing to improve his performance in the Winter Olympics held in Korea. . of the South in 2018.
Su Yiming finished in second place with 88.70 points. Everything indicated that the third round would be golden, but the second run presented a technical problem in the movement which caused the loss of decisive points. The bronze medal went to fellow Canadian Mark McMorris, who managed to repeat his 2018 performance with 88.53 points.
The three athletes managed to overcome the favoritism of Olympic champion Redmond Gerard. Highly anticipated, the American disappointed and could not get back on the podium, leaving only 83.25 points.
Canadian overcomes Hodgkin’s lymphoma to compete in Winter Olympics
Max Parrot made history by Olympic Games of Beijing with his sporting victory just after his personal victory. After being a runner-up in PyeongChang, the Canadian was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system in 2018. There were 12 chemotherapy sessions until 2019 when the disease was cleared.
