Instituto Camões and Banco Santander renew the protocol to support the Portuguese language

In a press release sent to Lusa, the Camões institute specifies that the financial support of Banco Santander Totta “is intended for the payment of scholarships offered to follow higher education courses given in Portugal and in Portuguese”.

“During the duration of the last protocol, 14 scholarships were awarded to students from the following countries: Argentina, Canada, Spain, France, Poland and the United Kingdom,” he adds.

According to Camões, Banco Santander was one of the first institutions to have the status of Empresa Promodora da Língua Portuguesa (EPLP) in 2017, “an initiative that already has 13 participating companies, from different sectors of activity and with different types contribution”.

“The valuation and promotion of Portuguese as a business language is also linked to the internationalization processes of companies, which can take advantage of the association of their brands and products with the global value of the Portuguese language”, emphasizes Camões in the press release.

The renewal of the protocol was signed by the president of Camões, João Ribeiro de Almeida, and by the administrator of the Bank, Miguel Belo de Carvalho.
